Katie Leath

Katie Leath, MPH, MA, has more than a decade of experience in health literacy, plain language, and public health. As Director of the Center for Health Literacy at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), she has led and mentored staff to build teams that produce award-winning health materials and deliver training that helps health professionals communicate more clearly. At UAMS, Katie collaborates with national clients and health profession students to strengthen health literacy practice and education. Through this work, she has strengthened the capacity of health professionals and organizations to communicate more clearly with the people they serve. Katie also serves on the board of the Center for Plain Language, supporting national efforts to make information easier to understand and use. As Region 6 Coordinator, she will draw on her experience developing people and partnerships to advance health literacy across the region.
