Sasha Fleary

Dr. Fleary is a Licensed Psychologist (Massachusetts) and Associate Professor in Community Health and Social Sciences at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy. She is also the founder/owner of Pumpkin Vine Consulting LLC, a health literacy and research consulting company. Her research expertise includes health literacy, health equity and advocacy, chronic disease prevention, mental health, child and adolescent health. Applying an equity lens, Dr. Fleary’s research seeks to augment social and cultural health capital in groups who are minoritized and their communities. She is particularly interested in the role of multiple facets of health literacy in chronic disease prevention and community organizing around health. Her scholarship has been published in psychology, public health, and health disparities journals. Dr. Fleary is the current Treasurer of the International Health Literacy Association (IHLA).
