Marissa Bielecki

Membership and Partnerships

Marissa Bielecki has spent her career helping people understand healthcare, first as a high school science teacher and now as a clinical trial educator at a large CRO. She co-chairs USHLA's Membership & Partnerships Task Force because she believes health literacy grows through relationships: people finding each other, sharing what works, and building something bigger together.

Marissa also knows the other side of the exam room. As a patient, caregiver, and advocate, she has seen what it's like when medical language gets in the way. As a Hispanic woman and a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community (where allies are always welcome), she cares about making sure every community can see itself in health information. Marissa is currently earning her Health Literacy Specialist Certificate through IHA. Her peers say she openly shares what she learns along the way, and loves mentoring anyone who wants to join her in this work.

When she's not working, you'll find Marissa buried in a book, sharing her latest reads online, practicing American Sign Language, playing Dungeons & Dragons. She lives in Arizona with her family and two adorable dogs, Nova & Sable.
